Data center study
In the very large-scale data center environment, cooling system standards capable of meeting the evolving IT industries are required due to the increasing density of IT equipment (more than 10 kW/rack). Cooling to remove heat from high density IT equipment is a key point for these data centers.
This involves numerically simulating the thermo-aerodynamic behavior of the various phenomena taking place in the hall in relation to IT processes and climate control systems.
The results of the initial studies were not compatible with the Ashrae standards governing the site, and a hot-spot risk was identified.
In fact, certain floor grids near the walls could end up with an overflow leading to an undersizing of certain decisive grids near a high-power server. The results of the initial studies were not compatible with the Ashrae standards governing the site, and a hot-spot risk was identified.
After optimizing the positioning of the grids and checking that there were no hot spots, several scenarios were studied: standard use scenarios and failure or maintenance scenarios.
Finally, we studied the evolution of room temperatures over time in the event of a cut in the concessionary network and the reactivation of the various back-up systems.
